Dressing Ingredients
- Herring Filets
- ¾ cup white spirit vinegar(12%)
- ¾ cup water
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 chopped onion
- ¼ teaspoon thyme
- ½ teaspoon crushed allspice
- ½ teaspoon crushed white peppercorns 2 bay leaves
Garnish Ingredients
- 1 red onion, sliced thinly
- 2 T. coarsely chopped parsley
- ½ teaspoon crushed allspice
Instructions
- Mix all the ingredients for the dressing in a saucepan.
- Bring to a boil, stirring in order to dissolve the sugar.
- Allow it to boil for several minutes, then leave to cool.
- Arrange herring pieces in a broad, flat-bottomed bowl.
- Pour the cold dressing on top.
- Garnish with red onion slices, parsley and crushed allspice.
